Are your test results accepted for entry into Hawaii?

Yes. You will have to complete the following steps to ensure that your test result is accepted:

  1. Download the CommonPass app and begin the signup process. When you are prompted to enter an invitation code enter "HAWAII". If you already have the app set up, click the 3-dot icon in the top right of the app, then "Change invitation code" to enter code "HAWAII".

  2. Upload your negative test result onto the CommonPass app to create a pass. There will be detailed instructions for this on the 2nd page of your test result form.

  3. Create or login to your account on the Hawaii Safe Travels website.

  4. Click the icon for "Trips" to add your trip details (ID, flights, dates, hotels etc).

  5. Click the icon for "Apply for Exemption/Exception from Quarantine", then click the icon for "CommonPass Exception". Enter the ID from your CommonPass pass (under the QR code) and then verify.

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER THESE TESTS?

We are able to provide you with the CPT code and receipt for the COVID-19 test to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. All insurance companies vary, and you will need to reach out to them about your potential reimbursement. We accept most major credit cards.


How do I submit a claim to my insurance for reimbursement?

1) You should receive a receipt within an hour after payment for your test. The receipt will contain a CPT (procedure code) and our Tax ID number. If there is an issue with your receipt, please see below for the information needed for claim.

2) Contact your insurance company to obtain a health care claim form or download one from their website. The following codes will be useful when filing your claim form.

  • Diagnosis Codes (we do not provide): please include the code that describes your symptoms or exposure at the time of testing

  • Ordering Provider NPI number: If required by your insurance, you will need to provide the NPI number of an ordering provider. We suggest you contact your health care provider (physician, nurse practitioner, PA, pharmacist, etc) to obtain their NPI number. We are a laboratory and unable to place orders.

3) Make a copy just in case.

4) Review and then submit to your insurance.



How is my sample for testing collected?

While you remain in the vehicle, a licenses member will collect a sample of nasal secretions. This is done by inserting the swab into your nostril approximately 1 inch into the nasal passage (midway) with the most visible drainage or the nostril that is most congested if drainage is not present. The swab is rotated several times, removed gently and this process is repeated on the other side.



Do I need an appointment?

Yes, all tests must be scheduled. Every individual who wants a test must make an appointment.


Can I schedule in advance?

Yes. Appointments can be made for the same day and up to two days in advance (depending on availability).


I don't drive. Can I walk in?

For drive-thru lab testing, a motor vehicle is required. Patients must remain in the vehicle at all times.!!


For NON- Symptomatic standard or rapid testing, a vehicle is not required.


Wait in one of the designated parking spaces, and a certified lab assistant will come out to you to retrieve your Covid test.


We also offer mobile testing for patients who don't drive or anyone that would like to utilize our mobile services. Appointments are also required for these services.

What do I need to bring with me?

Proof of identity is required. Please also bring the confirmation code that you receive in your confirmation text or email message. Be sure to have your mobile phone in case we need to reach you and to use our texting service for drive through testing. For International travel please have your passport available.

How and when will I get results?

Rapid results are generally returned within 1-2 hours or by end of day. For samples sent to our lab partners, average turnaround time for receiving results is 1-2 days. We’ll email you a secure link to view your results. They’ll be available to view and download for 5 days.


How old can a patient be to get a COVID-19 test?

This test is suitable for humans of any age, including infants. A parent or legal guardian must complete registration for all minor patients. Patients 5-15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who may need to assist with sample collection using the swab.

Do I need a referral from a medical professional?

Referrals are not required.
